Faces of The Village
Donna Hamblion
Donna was brought up in Langham and married a Boxted boy, John. They met at St Helena Secondary School and used Hundred Lane as a short cut to walk or cycle to see each other.
John has been a member of Boxted Cricket Club since he was 14 years old and Donna has always been involved in the club as either tea lady, kit washer and life time supporter.
As a result of this Donna was familiar with the building at the playing field used by the Sports Clubs. When the opportunity arose recently for someone to take on a lease from Boxted Parish Council to use part of the building to offer community facilities she gave up her paid job and set to planning her new venture. Donna’s vision for the building is to turn it into a community hub with a small cafe open seven days a week serving home cooked refreshments, hot drinks, a bar and free WI FI and a small shop.
It is hoped to open in July and Donna would be glad to hear from residents of anything they would like to see offered in the building and in particular the shop. Contact her at donna.boxtedcommunityhub@gmail.com
