Bellway Homes proposed development in Boxted

Bellway Homes has submitted an outline planning application to Colchester City Council to build up to 150 dwellings on the land north of Straight Road near Boxted Cross.
- We have no frequent bus service, no doctors no dentist, and no shop, and a sewage system that is already struggling with no plans to upgrade.
- A road capable of two way traffic but all other lanes are reduced width.
- The site overlooks and can be seen from the Dedham Vale National Landscape which carries extra protections that are often ignored.

Bellway Homes has submitted an Environmental Impact Assessment document to Colchester City Council relating to the proposed 150-home housing development on the land north of Straight Road at Boxted Cross.

Colchester Council has published its revised Local Plan proposals (details below), which include an additional 11,000 homes to be built over the next 15 years. This is on top of the existing housing proposals of just over 900 homes a year. This reflects the fact the Government are mandating that Colchester builds an extra 40% each year with proposals for 150 homes in Boxted and a whopping 900 in Langham.

The meeting on 17 February did not agree to go to consultation (Reg18) on the preferred options for development – by a very narrow vote. This next meeting is now scheduled for 4th March but because the planning team have to get more evidence and infrastructure plans the timetable for consultation is now slipped to nearer Nov/Dec 25.
