Jos Carter
Following an inspiring talk by the Catherine Bullen Foundation Jos is recruiting knitters or donations of wool for blankets and hats for a clinic in Namibia (see background below) and would love to hear from anyone who can help.
In the summer of 2002, Catherine Bullen, from Mersea Island, a fifth year medical student at Bristol University travelled with a fellow student to Namibia via Dubai and South Africa to go on a safari. Two days into the safari, she became seriously ill with a virulent strain of gastro enteritis. Despite valiant efforts to save her, she died at the age of 22 yrs. Her family, friends and university were devastated by the death of a young girl who was destined to become by all accounts a brilliant doctor. There was a feeling that something positive must emerge from this appalling tragedy and within a matter of days, the Catherine Bullen Memorial Fund was launched.

The nationally promoted Great British Spring Clean takes place between Friday 2nd and Sunday 4th March.
Stephen Whybrow is proposing to mark the occasion by gathering together one or two groups of say 6 volunteers to tackle one or more of the road stretches in Boxted which are difficult for individual volunteers to deal with largely for reasons of safety. Stephen has obtained some large and prominent warning signs and the plan would be to have one of these carried in advance of the group and one behind so as to slow the traffic down then the other 4 volunteers in each group should be able to pick up the litter over a short period of time. He has some Hi Vis clothing for anyone who does not have this.
The time proposed is 10.00am on Saturday 3rd March with a view to finishing by 11.30 am if not sooner.
If you are able to join in please contact Stephen as soon as possible.
