    Faces of The Village

Boxted Methodist Silver Band recently acknowledged the service and dedication of four of its members by awarding them the title of Vice President.

Originally a wind band formed by members of the village chapel in the 1860s, there has been a brass band playing to the honour and glory of God in Boxted since 1898.

As in the photograph : Kevin Blundell, Mark Kettle, Lindsay Whitered and John Polley have each served over 30 years with the band , been active on the Bands executive and been example members. John has achieved over eighty years’ service playing with the Band, born and bred in Boxted and as with Mark and Kevin shares generations of connection to both the Band and the Chapel. Lindsay is the Bands librarian managing the vast library of over 2500 music titles.
The Band is going from strength to strength but always welcomes new members at rehearsal on Wednesday evenings. A cornerstone of Boxted history the Boxted Methodist Silver Band can be heard supporting local events throughout the year and on every first Sunday playing in the chapel service in Chapel Road.
