Boxted Parish Council Seeks Volunteers for Biodiversity and Sustainability Working Group

Do you have a keen interest in preserving and improving the health and quality of the countryside and local environment of Boxted and its surrounds? If so then Boxted Parish Council (BPC) would like to hear from you.

As a small village set on the edge of the Dedham Vale AONB we are very fortunate to have such wonderful countryside on our doorstep. We still, however, face the same threats of environmental degradation and reduction in biodiversity which threatens all of the UK.

BPC are seeking expressions of interest from local volunteers to form a working group to explore ideas and schemes that could be implemented in Boxted to improve local Biodiversity and Sustainability.

If any of the above interests you then please do not hesitate to send an email to boxtedparishcouncil@gmail.com with a short paragraph explaining your interest, ideas, and what level of participation you are willing to give? At this stage, all input is valuable. Even if you do not have the time to commit to being a member of the group, we would still welcome your ideas to put before the group. No commitment is required at this stage, we are simply collecting expressions of interest and everyone who emails in will be kept up to date with progress as we establish the group.

Thank you in advance for your responses, .

Unauthorised encampments

A nomadic way of life is not against the law. From time to time groups of people come to Essex and temporarily camp on local authority owned land. The code for unauthorised encampments in Essex is a policy for the management of unauthorised camping on local authority or partner land.

The accompanying pdf file sets out what parish councils do in the event of unauthorised encampment and, if you are a private landowner who needs to report an unauthorised encampment, you will find the information useful.

Stephen Whybrow writes:

“We have achieved sales of £150 in the first two weeks or so with minimal publicity and have added 30 or more plants to the list. I will be trying to persuade gardening clubs in adjacent villages to provide links from their to our site (eg Dedham, Nayland, Polsted).

“We now have 50 or more items on the website as well as more being posted everyday We also now have a section called Connoisseurs Selection with some more unusual items.”

Criminal damage to a vehicle
in Boxted Road

Suspects unknown have arranged to view Range Rover which the victim had advertised for sale on Gumtree. Whilst one suspect distracted the victim a second suspect put oil into the coolant and over over the engine. After going for a test drive the suspects tried to claim that the head gasket had failed and offered to buy the car for a fraction of the asking price.
