Boxted Litter Pickers

(pictured above Lin Tralau tackling the busy Queen’s Head Road)

Currently the village has a group of approx 25 volunteers covering about 85% of Boxted’s roads.

Over the years volunteers who have left the village or have not felt able to continue have been replaced by some welcome new faces.

Stephen Whybrow co-ordinates the scheme and would be pleased to hear from anyone interested in joining the group: stephenwhybrow

If you haven’t the time to commit regularly you may be interested in helping with an occasional task force on the outlying or potentially more dangerous roads.

Litter picking is potentially dangerous and volunteers are urged to take all necessary care and Hi Viz clothing is provided as well as the litter picking sticks. The aim is to cover each individual’s patch at least every two months.

The village may not be entirely litter free but it is so much better than it used to be before this initiative was started nearly 10 years ago!
