Saying Goodbye to Faces of The Village

    Sarah Carr

Sarah and her husband Jules, who have lived in Boxted for thirty years, are moving to Suffolk.

Their two sons attended Boxted Primary School and Sarah was a school governor for several years. She also served on the Parish Council.

The village has benefited from Sarah’s great organisational skills and spirit of generosity. She arranged two promise auctions for the village church, combining them with fundraising for St Helena & St Elizabeth Hospices. One of them raised about £20k. Sarah is a very straightforward personality who likes to get things done and she achieved her mission of organising the last village Open Gardens without one committee meeting.

Sarah has been secretary of the Dedham Vale Society for the last 25 years. Her last project, a flagpole on Langham church tower, in memory of Wilf Tolhurst, took seven years to bring to fruition which tested her patience greatly with the bureaucracy at the Diocese of Chelmsford.

Sarah wishes the new owners of Gulsons, James and Laura Amos and their three young children, as much happiness as she and her family have had there.
