    Village News and Events

    in Boxted and Langham

Welcome to this week’s newsletter – giving you a reminder of some of the regular events taking place in Boxted and Langham. There’s a packed schedule for the weeks ahead.

Boxted Methodist Silver Band plays on

Boxted Methodist Silver Band provided the music at the annual Service of Remembrance at the Boxted Parish Church of St Peter, which was conducted by the Rev Hannah Cooper. The band is the only Methodist silver band in the country and has been performing at worship and concerts throughout the village for over 150 years.

Although Boxted Methodist Church shut in the summer, the silver band is continuing and over the coming three months it will be giving more than 20 performances at church services and other events in Essex and Suffolk.

These include the Long Melford Street Fair 23 November, Band Service at the Village Hall 1 December, carols at Fred Smiths and Fillpotts on December 8th and carol playing all around the Village during the festive season.

In 2020 the Band will continue to perform at concerts and supporting worship and events in the village and surrounding area. In planning is  a spring concert at East Bergholt Church and performing at the Methodist Central Hall Westminster to support Harvest Worship followed by an afternoon concert.

The Band has is very pleased to announce the recent appointment of Sir Bob Russell as its new chairman.
