    Faces of the Village

Doug Harper, who has taken on the lease for the café at Boxted Community Hub.
Doug ran Harper’s Caffé in the town centre until Covid 19 struck when he decided to take a sabbatical until after the pandemic.
He was looking around with a view to set up a business that was part of a community and spotted Boxted Parish Council’s advert which seemed to be what he was looking for.
Doug has hit the ground running providing a range of freshly made food and good coffee and looks forward to meeting residents and visitors alike. He is currently looking to recruit part time staff, preferably with experience in the hospitality industry but training will be given.
Boxted Parish Council has made a planning application for refurbishment of the whole building and yes, the carpet will go!

    New Parish Councillor for Boxted

Following the resignation of Cheryl Damen and Heidi Chaplin, Amin Dedhar has been appointed to Boxted Parish Council with immediate effect for the current term.

The second vacancy can be filled by co-option. This will be an agenda item for February when a timetable and the process will be confirmed.

A full list of councillors can be found on the Boxted Parish Council website .

    Langham Parish Council minutes

The draft minutes of the 6 January meeting have been posted on the Noticeboard section of the website www.langhamparishcouncil.co.uk The next meeting will be on Wednesday 2 February at 7.30 pm in the Community Centre.

    Parking in the Park

As part of the improvements to the King George V Playing Fields, Boxted Parish Council are installing an all weather access track for the overflow parking area. This track will ensure that the overflow car park can be used throughout the entire year, when required. Soil from the excavation of the track will eventually be used for a “Wild Play Mound” as part of the improvements to the children’s playground. Initially this soil will be stored in a heap at the end of the new track until ground conditions improve, at which time it will be transferred across the field to it’s intended location and compacted into a solid mound.

During these works temporary barriers/fencing will be erected to keep the public safe from the building activities. The temporary soil storage mound will also be fenced.
