    Annual Residents Meeting
    Wednesday 8 March, 7pm
    Boxted Village Hall

    Boxted residents have an extra opportunity to meet the Parish Council on 8th March at 7pm in the village hall. We call this the Boxted Annual Residents Meeting.

    It’s an open meeting to discuss village matters. It’s followed by the monthly parish council meeting which will start at 7.30 pm at the earliest.


    Cosy Café

    Free homemade soup and breads in a warm space from 12 noon. Hot drinks and cakes available for sale. Representatives of Colchester City Council will be present to offer help and advice on Cost of Living support.  Those who wish to come along and have difficulty getting to the Centre please call 272431.

    Langham Community Centre

    At the previous meeting Lewis Rabett, an auctioneer from Reeman Dansie, spoke of his early interest in antiques and collectables which led to his career as an auctioneer, and displayed some pieces from his collection. He then spoke about the items which members had brought in.

    The next meeting is on Thursday 9 March in the Community Centre at 7.30 pm. Liz Huxley will be speaking on Spring has Sprung. Afterwards tea, coffee and homemade cakes will be served. New members and guests are always welcome; guest fee £5. For further details tel. 01206 273286. 


    Recycling Centres

    From 13 March 2023 all vehicles will need to book a slot to visit any Essex County Council recycling centre. Find out how to book here.


     

    Rix Farms talk


    Tuesday 14 March, 7.30pm

    The Boxted W.I. ladies are looking forward to a talk from John Rix on the farming life at Rix farms. As many of you will know they are based at Lodge Farm and tend fields in the village.

    The club welcome anyone who would like to join in, even if just for an evening such as this with a small charge on the door.

    Langham Parish Council News

    Expansion and Upgrade of Play Area

    Contractors have now started work on the play area in this 50th anniversary year of the opening of the Recreation Ground in 1973. It is expected that the Play Area will be completed, weather permitting, in March and it is requested that access to the nearby double gates be kept clear for contractors’ vehicles.

    Green Energy Consultation

    A petition has been set up to ‘SAY NO TO 180km of Essex Suffolk Norfolk pylons’ and is asking the Government to look realistically to the green future and build a strategic offshore grid instead. You can find the petition at www.pylonseastanglia.co.uk or you can write to local MP Sir Bernard Jenkin – bernard.jenkin.mp@parliament.uk who is chair of OffSET (the Off-Shore Electricity Grid Task Force).


    St Peter’s Markets Plants

    Over 500 plants are for sale in aid of Langham with Boxted Church Funds.
