Register your tree before midnight on Sunday!

As the festive season winds down, have you thought about how you’ll dispose of your real Christmas tree? Don’t forget St Helena can help with your Christmas clean-up!
Register for the Christmas Tree-cycle before midnight this Sunday 5th January and our volunteers will collect and recycle your tree in return for a donation.
We’re collecting trees from CO1-CO9 and CO11-CO16, including CO12, between Monday 10th and Friday 13th January 2025.
By recycling your tree, you’ll:
- Help protect the environment by reducing harmful landfill waste.
- Support local animal sanctuaries where some trees will be taken for food and bedding.
- Provide vital funding for St Helena Hospice to help ensure we can be there for the people you love when they need us.

Langham Community Centre – Volunteer Secretary
Langham Community Council is looking for a new Secretary with effect from May 2025, when Liz Winter, the current secretary is stepping down from the position after nearly ten years. Liz hopes that someone younger and more IT-savvy will take on the role of supporting the Management team of Trustees.
It involves preparation of documents and minute-taking for Trustee and Finance meetings. You will join a team of Charity Trustees working to maintain and improve the Village Hall for the benefit of Langham and nearby residents.
If you would like to help your village by volunteering, Liz is happy to provide more details. She has found it a really good way of feeling useful, keeping abreast of village events and getting to know the lovely people of Langham.
Liz now lives in Boxted, so please contact her initially via email: libbywinter18@gmail.com and she will be happy to meet you to answer any questions you have relating to the role

Boxted Bridge update

Published 24 Dec 2024:
In October 2024, Highways agreed to commission a Dynamic Load Test by Mann Williams to assess the load bearing of Boxted bridge. However, two months on registration of Mann Williams as a consultant has still not been formalised at Ringway Jacobs end.
The load test data will confirm once and for all what how many tons Boxted weight bridge can carry.
