Boxted Village Green Wildlife Signs

Last year’s Boxted Wildlife Activities grant application from the Dedham Vale National Landscape included plans to design and install some small information boards on the village green.

We now have five permanent posts.  Three of the signs relate to the wildlife habitats in the hedgerows and these will stay up permanently.  One sign is a summary of what is happening to the Village Green and why, that too is permanent.  The fifth sign board is seasonal, and there will be three different versions to represent Spring, Summer and Autumn/Winter which will be swapped respectively with the seasons.

The green was recently mowed for only the second time this year. It will be mown again in the coming week to break down some of the left-over grass mulch.  Having now mulched the lawn areas for three years, it is much greener and healthier than it was before.  The meadow areas are now a wonderful display of Oxeye Daisies. Please refer to one of our signs for more plant identification.
