St Peter’s Churchyard Working Group
Saturday 25 November, 10 am – 1 pm
Over the last 18 months a group of volunteers have participated in a working group in St Peter’s Churchyard. The objectives are firstly to clear away much of the overgrown bushes and vegetation and secondly to establish new wildlife friendly hedges and a number of designated wildflower areas.
Last winter we planted a hundred metres of new hedging made up of 15 different native species. The working group meet on occasional Saturday mornings the next session being on Saturday 25th November.
More volunteers are very welcome and if you fancy a morning in the open air with other likeminded companions Refreshments and tools provided) please contact Stephen Whybrow on 07801749575 for more details.

Yes to Offshore Grid Campaign – Better, Faster, Cheaper
History and Heritage Survey
Your help is needed to win the campaign!
We need to establish what the harm will be to heritage assets along National Grid’s Norwich to Tilbury pylons and undergrounding route. Boxted has a total of 58 listed properties and buildings.
With that in mind, please will you help? We have created a survey which incorporates Historic England’s checklist. It allows you to describe, in your own words, the setting of any heritage asset near you, and the harm which might arise from pylons/undergrounding.
What’s a heritage asset?
A building, monument, site, place, area or landscape identified as having a degree of significance meriting consideration in planning decisions, because of its heritage interest
It is really, really important that we gather this data.
The results will form part of the campaign’s submission to the statutory consultation, which might now be as early as Q1 2024.
You can submit the survey more than once, for several assets, if you’re keen, and/or encourage your friends, neighbours or parish council to complete one.
It might take a little time to complete, so make yourself a brew or a tipple and get going!
With thanks, as ever, from Rosie Pearson and the Essex Suffolk Norfolk Pylons campaign team.

Are you reliable and well organised?
Could you spare a few hours each month to help others?
Langham with Boxted PCC are looking for a new Organiser to manage our Good Neighbours scheme which offers free transport and other help to elderly or vulnerable people living within the parish.
The scheme is already well set up and basically runs itself but we do need someone to manage the records and iron out any minor hiccups.
If you are interested, please contact Patsy Ann Maggs on 01206 273195
