Important Notice
Boxted Royal British Legion Club
Due to essential electrical works, the Boxted RBL Club will be temporarily closed. Unfortunately that means we will have to cancel the following upcoming planned event.
- Easter Monday Family Day (Easter Egg hunt & BBQ – 10 April)
If you have already bought tickets for the family day, we will be refunding these. We will still meet at 11am outside of the club for a village walk, if anyone is still interested (approx. 1.5 hrs, 5 km) but we will be unable to go into the building. We appreciate this is inconvenient for all and we will work hard to get the place up and running as soon as we can (current best estimate 14 April). Vintage & Classics
at Boxted’s Coronation Party in the Park
Calling owners of classic cars, vintage tractors or other interesting vehicles and machinery in Boxted.
Following the success of last year’s display at the Jubilee Party, I am again coordinating a small display of vehicles and machinery as part of the Coronation Celebrations on Sunday 7 May, on the King George Playing fields.
Vehicles/Machinery from local owners or with some local interest will be of particular interest but all will be considered.
Please contact me, Jonathan Hunt, by email on huntajon@hotmail.co.uk or text/call 07874 625635 if you would be interested in showing your vehicle. Vehicles will need to be delivered to the field by 12pm on the day, and then can be removed by late afternoon before the light fades.

- Judging at 12 noon; great prizes for each category.
- Enjoy Easter treats, brownies, hot cross buns; pick up fruit, veg, cheeses and drinks.
- Take part in the Easter trail.

Nicky Reynolds, who has recently been on Anglia Television, will be speaking on Soil Cinderellas, honouring the Women’s Land Army. Come and enjoy fellowship over breakfast alongside a talk from our guest speaker, Archdeacon James Ridge, Chaplain general to prisons, who will be speaking about his role in prisons.
Cost of the breakfast (Full English) will be £10. All are welcome.
All welcome to the next pub quiz held at the Boxted Royal British Legion Club!
Join us at 8 pm on Saturday 29th April – £5 a head, maximum of 6 people per team, this time, proceeds will go towards Essex Welfare, supporting service personnel within Essex.

Take part in an art and craft exhibition
The King’s Coronation Celebration

We are putting on an exhibition of local Art and Craft talent in the Village Hall at Boxted during the Coronation Celebrations. We are looking for any talented people in the Arts and Crafts sector, amateur or professional, who would like to take part.
Your exhibits will not be for sale but we will make all contact details available to all visitors so that if they wish to they can contact you after the event.

All Stars Cricket (5-8 Years)
Friday 12 May – Friday 30 June, 6.30pm – 7.15pm
Langham Community Centre
All Stars Cricket provides boys and girls from 5-8 years with eight weeks of non-stop fun.
The activity and game-based programme is suitable for all skill levels, providing children with the foundations for a lifelong love of physical activity and cricket, whilst making friends in a safe and enjoyable environment.
Parents and guardians can get involved and play cricket with their children. Parent activators (helpers) will support the fully accredited lead Activator in delivering the sessions, supporting and encouraging children as they learn new skills. It is completely optional; there no need to be a cricket expert.

Hedgehog populations are in decline by up to 75% in varying parts of the UK and could be extinct in 15 years. We are planning a campaign to raise awareness and promote action – making Boxted a Hedgehog Friendly Village. Look out for useful information, family events and talks over the coming months.

Green Energy Consultation

A petition has been set up to ‘SAY NO TO 180km of Essex Suffolk Norfolk pylons’ and is asking the Government to look realistically to the green future and build a strategic offshore grid instead. You can find the petition at www.pylonseastanglia.co.uk or you can write to local MP Sir Bernard Jenkin – bernard.jenkin.mp@parliament.uk who is chair of OffSET (the Off-Shore Electricity Grid Task Force).
St Peter’s Markets Plants
Over 500 plants are for sale in aid of Langham with Boxted Church Funds. Most plants are £1.50 to £3.50 with quantity discounts. Perennials, English native trees, shrubs, herbs and climbers are available. First come first served but all will be done to fulfil requests.
