Calling all budding male thespians!

 

The Boxted Players murder mystery ‘Cutlers Last Stand’ is scheduled for Saturday 17 June.  Casting is well under way if there are any adult male actors that would like to get involved please message Scott Dolling on 07904 887000.

Big Breakfast

Shepherd & Dog, Langham 
Saturday 22 April, 9am – 11am

 

Come and enjoy fellowship over breakfast alongside a talk from our guest speaker, Archdeacon James Ridge, Chaplain general to prisons, who will be speaking about his role in prisons. 

Cost of the breakfast (Full English) will be £10. All are welcome. 



 

All welcome to the next pub quiz held at the Boxted Royal British Legion Club! 

Join us at 8 pm on Saturday 29th April – £5 a head, maximum of 6 people per team, this time, proceeds will go towards Essex Welfare, supporting service personnel within Essex.

In preparation for the King’s Coronation, we would like to take this opportunity to organise the Big Boxted Spring Clean! 
 
We are looking for volunteers (all ages!) to help us out – we would like to help spruce up a few things here and there. If you’re interested, please click on the link below to sign up. Equipment will be provided. We will organise a BBQ at the end for volunteers.

You are warmly invited to join us for a Charity Ball at the Stoke by Nayland Resort on Saturday 11th November in support of the Poppy Appeal. 

Tables or individual tickets available. Individual tickets are £75 and tables can seat 8 – 10 people.

A fantastic evening is planned to raise money for the Poppy Appeal – dinner, entertainment, music and an auction. Welcome drink on arrival.

The Edge & The Zone

The Langham Community Centre hosts a wide range of regular clubs and unique activities. Many of these groups would welcome new members, so don’t hesitate to browse the ‘Activities’ page  on the website or see the Facebook page to find out more.

Main Hall of the Community Centre on the last Friday of each month, from 10:30am until midday. All are welcome to join us for coffee/tea and cakes.

Food bank collection points are at Boxted British Legion Club, St Peter’s Church, Boxted, St Mary’s Church Langham and Langham Community Shop

Hedgehog populations are in decline by up to 75% in varying parts of the UK and could be extinct in 15 years. We are planning a campaign to raise awareness and promote action – making Boxted a Hedgehog Friendly Village.  Look out for useful information, family events and talks over the coming months.

Green Energy Consultation

 

For further information on what’s going on with the National Grid Green Energy Project, please visit  https://boxtedparishcouncil.org.uk/national-grid-green-energy-project/ 

A petition has been set up to ‘SAY NO TO 180km of Essex Suffolk Norfolk pylons’ and is asking the Government to look realistically to the green future and build a strategic offshore grid instead. You can find the petition at  www.pylonseastanglia.co.uk  or you can write to local MP Sir Bernard Jenkin – bernard.jenkin.mp@parliament.uk  who is chair of OffSET (the Off-Shore Electricity Grid Task Force). 


St Peter’s Markets Plants

 

Over 500 plants are for sale in aid of Langham with Boxted Church Funds. Most plants are £1.50 to £3.50 with quantity discounts. Perennials, English native trees, shrubs, herbs and climbers are available. First come first served but all will be done to fulfil requests. Contact Stephen Whybrow on 07801 749575 or email  stephenwhybrow@msn.com to order or arrange viewing or visit  https://stpetersmarketplace.org/  for more information.
