Hedgehog populations are in decline by up to 75% in varying parts of the UK and could be extinct in 15 years.
We are planning a campaign to raise awareness and promote action – making Boxted a Hedgehog Friendly Village. Look out for useful information, family events and talks over the coming months.

Save our bridge update
Does this sound familiar?

The 200 year old hump backed bridge at Finchingfield, Essex, a conservation area since 1969, is under threat from Essex Highways who want to push through plans to demolish the bridge and replace it with something stronger and wider. They insist the use of brickwork cladding on the new concrete bridge would give it a “very similar look” to the old one.
Nonsense, says the Society for the Prevention of Ancient Buildings (SPAB). Not only will the new, larger bridge be out of scale with the rest of the village, but the concrete kerbs will be “especially unsightly”. “The fact that the bridge does not conform closely to modern standards is a key reason why it is of special interest and not grounds to propose its replacement” says SPAB.
Join us this Easter Monday (10 April) for a family day at the Boxted Royal British Legion. Join us for some or all of the day! All are very welcome.
Meet at 11 am for a village walk, this will be a circular route to end up back at the club. At 1 pm we will hold an Easter Egg Children’s party (Easter egg painting, card making, Easter egg hunt, quiz, party games etc), to be followed by a BBQ at 2 pm.
Please purchase tickets in advance for the Children’s Party (so the Easter bunny knows how much chocolate to drop off! £5 a head), the rest of the day is free to all.
Click here to sign up for the Easter Egg hunt and we’ll see you there!
All welcome to the next pub quiz held at the Boxted Royal British Legion Club!
Join us at 8 pm on Saturday 29th April – £5 a head, maximum of 6 people per team, this time, proceeds will go towards Essex Welfare, supporting service personnel within Essex.
Click here and let us know you’re coming along!
