Beware of break-ins

There has been a spate of break-ins in Boxted recently, including an attempt at the Royal British Legion Club, where perpetrators tried to lift the roof over the back entrance with crowbars. This has been reported to the police.

Another member of the community saw a flatbed parked across their driveway with “highway maintenance “ on the back. The two occupants who appeared to be teenagers and did not look like they had been working on the roads. They claimed they had an excess of gravel from local roadworks for purchase.

Please be vigilant; these people may have been checking who was in at home and who was not. They may also be ‘scammers’ trying to offload ‘unwanted’ or free gravel. Never pay chancers unwittingly.

Stay safe and vigilant and pass the message on to raise awareness and report any suspicions to the police.

Crowdfunding for Boxted Bridge report

Can you help raise £4,580 to commission a highways planning specialist’s report challenging Highways proposal to demolish and replace Boxted bridge?

LINK TO OUR CROWDFUNDING PAGE HERE!

Despite substantial objections to this controversial planning application, including from four Parish Councils, Colchester District Council, our local MP for Harwich and North Essex, twelve heritage bodies including Save Britain’s Heritage, and over 7,500 people who have signed the petition Highways are still determined to push ahead and planning committee meetings are soon to be scheduled.

We want to commission a highways planning specialist to make a report to challenge Essex Highways proposal. A summary of the report will then be submitted to the planning departments and officers deciding on the application.

Please can you help us to reach our target of £4,580 to complete the work? With over 7,500 signatories each person need only give a little to make a big difference.

Thank you for your support!
