Boxted Bridge update

Vegetation and trees beside bridge to be replaced by hard standing area
It would take 15 years for this vegetation to grow back beside the bridge, once chopped down to make way for the replacement bridge, and it looks like that is not the plan anyway by the new drawing which shows a vast and bleak hard standing area instead.
Please write to object to this proposal! Deadline is Nov 22nd .

Severalls Bridge update
Cllr Lewis Barber has received the following statement from National Highways:
“Unfortunately, we have had a setback with the bridge. There was the possibility of an innovative solution where the damages support beam would effectively be heated up, bent back into shape, then additional strengthening support welded in. once this got into design, though, it transpired that the main beam on the south side is so badly damaged that that is not an option. What this means, in effect, is that we will likely need to replace that half of the bridge deck. This is not a quick fix, or an easy one but I am hoping the Structures manager will come back to me with a draft timescale before Christmas”
