If you’re wondering when Colchester Council will begin the clear recycling bag delivery across Colchester, it will be starting from Monday 11 July.
If you need more clear bags, or other recycling containers, before then, you can order them on our website here and collect from a local stockist:

Dog fouling in Boxted Village
There is currently a large problem with dog fouling along ‘Piggy Path’, which runs from Church Lane to ‘Little Church House’. Village residents have also seen several piles of dog faeces between Boxted Hall and Little Church House as well as the footpaths which run through farmland. It really is disgusting, and it seems to be getting worse.
There are several dog poo bins located in King George Playing Field and also one outside the Royal British Legion on Straight Road. If you are not near a bin, please consider carrying a small shoulder bag to carry your dog’s (wrapped up) deposit in and take it home to flush down the loo if necessary. Not picking up is considered antisocial behaviour and carries a £100 fine.
One resident is going to report the problem to Colchester Borough Council. If you are also fed up with the lack of responsibility of some local dog owners, you can report incidents of dog fouling at https://www.colchester.gov.uk/environmental-protection/report-dog-fouling/ . Let’s all do our part in keeping the countryside free from doggy poo.
Methodist Band’s busy programme
Above: Seven members of Boxted Methodist Silver Band played at Boxted Primary School’s Fete last Saturday (1st July)
Boxted Methodist Silver Band – England’s only surviving Methodist silver band – gave four performances during June and has started July with two more.
Those in June were jubilee events at Great Bentley, Boxford in Suffolk and in Boxted plus at a strawberry tea at St Peter’s Church, Boxted.
Several members of the band played at Boxted School Fete last Friday, and on Saturday evening the full band gave a concert at Great Bentley Methodist Church to coincide with a flower festival. At the end of the month they will be playing at a service at St Cedd’s Church, Polstead.
On Sunday August 14 the band will be performing in Colchester Castle Park, 3pm at the bandstand. Boxted Methodist Church was closed by Colchester Methodist Circuit in July 2019, but the band was determined to play on. Its headquarters is now Fillpots Garden Centre in Boxted Straight Road. The band has 32 members, including four teenagers, with the oldest member aged 89.
